A patent of nobility granted to Jacques-Joseph Vipart by Louis XV on the 3rd of June, 1724; includes lengthy report of his services to the King.
Notes:
Written on vellum and bound in contemporary full leather with silk front and rear pastedowns; gilt stamping on spine, gilt edges and with a gilt armorial stamp on cover.
Caption title.
Layout: Manuscript written on 44 lines per page within a red and gold framed border.
Illuminated with handcolored coats of arms throughout; extending along the left side of all pages (within border) is an illuminated tree trunk.
Spine title: Preuves de noblesse de Mr. le Marquis de Silly.
Includes remains of 3 wax seals on p. [39] along with statement certifying that patent of nobility was entered into the record on June 3, 1724; also includes faded ink signatures.
