The abridged text of Vitruvius' "De architectura" is by Claude Perrault based on his complete translation first published in 1673; Perrault is named only in the privilege on last page.

Running title: Abregé des Vitruve.

Fowler copy reports frontispiece with date 1691 is a reduced copy of that in the 1673 folio edition, and is mounted on the verso of the front flyleaf and is not included in the pagination or signatures.

The engravings follow main text and are reduced copies of some of the plates by Sebastien Le Clerc from the 1673 folio edition. Cf. Fowler.
