A series of annually issued hand-colored engravings depicting draperies, furniture, carriages, draperies, decorative objects, jewelry, etc.; work began as an outgrowth of earlier publication "Journal des dames et des modes" (1797) of which La Mésangère was editor..
Plates no. 1-5 are dated An 10, [i. e. 1801 or 1802].
Unclear as to how many plates were issued yearly (generally ranging from 18-50) and if the series actually began publication in 1801 or 1802; according to Gail Caskey Winkler work was first issued in 1802 based on a list of plates published in 1830 by La Mésangère.
According to P. Cornu in "Meubles et objets de goût 1796-1830" (1914), work was continued after the death of La Mésangère by Couët until 1835; plates 701-755 were issued by Couët between 1832 and 1835.
