- Maria Duke's "memory book" contains poetry, personal sentiments and friendship verses, many on religious themes, written by friends and family for Maria Duke during the years 1827-1833; many of the pieces are signed and dated; some pieces are signed by her future husband "Louis" or "L.A.G."; several entries are accompanied by color illustrations of flowers; also includes a mounted engraving, a drawing by W.G. Heyl and song with musical notation also signed by Heyl; song has title: Bounding Billows as sung by L.A. Godey.

- Engraved title page reads: Miss Maria Duke's Album New York, November 24th, 1827.
- Maria Duke [Godey] was the wife of Philadelphia publisher Louis Antoine Godey; they were married in August 1833.
- Bound in maroon morocco with gilt and blind stamped decoration on covers and spine with marbled end papers; according to collector's material accompanying this collection, Louis A. Godey had the album bound for his wife after they were married.
