Notes:
"Travels, adventures and exoticism were favorite topics in the last century. Sir Charles W. Wilson contributed his own part in his four-volume 'Picturesque Palestine' ... Up to page 120 this volume is a facsimile of the original. The further part dealing with Egypt was replaced here by what seems to more relevant nowadays: p. 121-131, dealing with St. Catherine monastery published by Wilson in a different volume (No. III) was included here as well as 'The Negev and the South' (p. 132-139) ... Petra and Mount Hor were also included here (p. 141-154) because of their unique interest and their historical and geographical connection with the south."--Dust jacket front lapel signed E.S., Jerusalem, January 1976.
