- Account book and journal of William Jones, the owner of a cotton plantation near Jonesville, Liberty County, Georgia, beginning with entry for Janry. 1st, 1839 and finishing with entries noting the distribution of cotton bags and blankets, the latest dated 1860. The daily entries, from 1 Jan. 1839 to 24 Apr. 1858, provide details of the operation of the plantation. The book keeps a record of planting, harvests, weather, preparation of ground, allocation of slave labour, crop yields, prices realised, and other agricultural matters. It includes records of slave purchases in 1840 and 1841. Printed clipping pasted inside front cover: Almanac for 1843. Journal proper finishes on pages [3 ].
