Guests of honour included Ed Sullivan, Lieutenant-Governor of New York George B. DeLuca, Italian Ambassador Manlio Brosio, and US Deputy Undersecretary of State Robert Murphy.

- ACIM was founded in 1951 to assist refugees. It worked to reform the Refugee Relief Act of 1953 and aided migrants in settling inches The ACIM also played an important role in lobbying Congress for the Immigration Reform Bill of 1965.
