- Description: The recollections of John Raymond (Ray) Mattinen, during which he describes his early life in Cloquet, the saw mills, his parents religious beliefs, siblings, education and employment. A family tree, biographical information, the life of Julie Mattinen Sunnarborg and other members of the family, declarations of intent to become a US citizen for Enil Mattinen and John Erik Mattinen, naturalisation papers and family photographs are also included.

- Begun in 1979 and completed in 1984, the Minnesota Finnish American Family History Project had as its purpose the documentation of the personal histories and experiences of Minnesota Finnish Americans. The Project was sponsored by the Minnesota Finnish American Historical Society and the Iron Range, St. Louis County, and Otter Tail Historical Societies.
