Description: Press reports and correspondence relating to clarification of a statement made by J. A. Perkins, Minister for the Interior, in November 1933, that restrictions on foreign immigrants would be eased when economic conditions allowed. At the time, landing permits for 'aliens' were restricted to close dependent relatives of those already settled in Australia and those with at least £500 in capital available.
