- Description: Typed copy made in 1955 of letters written by Browne in 1872-1873. The letters tell the story of Browne's migration from England to Texas, first by boat to New York, then by train, via places such as Albany, Columbus, Cincinnati, St Louis and Memphis. The final stage of his journey was by steamboat. Once in Texas his letters concern employment, local society, especially the relationship between European Americans and African Americans and fellow immigrants to the state.
