- Summary:
- Italian treatise in six parts on the history and authority of the papal bull In Coena Domini, published annually in Rome on Maundy Thursday from the 14th century into the 18th, presenting categories of offenses punishable by excommunication with absolution only possible from the pope. The fourth and fifth parts consider the conflict between papal and civil powers. In 1768 following the excommunication of Ferdinand, Duke of Parma, by Clement XIII, several leaders of European countries issued edicts opposing this practice.

- Layout: Written in 29-32 long lines; upper and left margins on each page with some marginal notes in the left margin, probably in the hand of the author.
- Script: Written in semicursive script, probably by a single hand.
- Binding: Heavy paper wrapper with title Ricerche storiche sopra la bolla In C[o]ena Domini written in ink on the front cover; another inscription in ink on the front cover has been written over so as to be illegible but includes the date 1772.
- Origin: Written in Italy between 1768 (latest date in manuscript, note, f. 12r) and 1772 (front cover).
