- Report of the Joint Select Committee, following the Governor's message as it related to capital punishment, and presented to the Connecticut General Assembly during the May session, 1853. This was another renewal of the governor's request for abolishing the death penalty; after enumerating various reasons for its recommendation, the committee attached an act that imposed a natural life sentence rather than the death penalty.
