- Summary:
- This artistic mosaic is based on the history of a locality officially named Travessa Anita Garibaldi, a part of the municipality of Castanhal, Pará, Brazil, where the author grew up. Locally, the community is better known as "Km 21" or "21" on the Castanhal-Terra Alta road. Barros provides four stories and a poem, based upon oral histories she has collected from residents. These are accompanied by drawings or photos, as well as music for clarinet and piano. The book is an ethnography of 21, expressed as a dialogue between the languages of fiction/poetry, photography, music and drawing.
