- "Ferdinand Bol wordt vaak in één adem genoemd met zijn wereldberoemde meester Rembrandt. Na zijn leertijd bij Rembrandt ontwikkelde hij zich echter tot één van de belangrijkst en succesvolste schilders van zijn tijd. In zijn eigen tijd werd Bol wellicht beschouwd als succesvoller dan Rembrandt. Niet alleen de kwaliteit van zijn werk, ook zijn familiale banden en geslaagde netwerkstrategie droegen bij aan zijn succes. Ferdinand Bol was zo succesvol dat hij het zich kon veroorloven om te gaan wonen aan de Keizersgracht 672, tegenwoordig Museum van Loon.
