Summary:

Author investigates the insertion of the College and Church of the Jesuits in colonial Belém. He analyzes, from the perspective of archeology of architecture, the way these buildings were constituted in elements in the landscape of power of the oldest area of ​​the city. He paid attention to both the documentation relating to the colonial period and the material aspects of this architectural complex. He also used maps and images that show the spatial disposition of Belém, focusing on the relationship of the College and Church with the city. Author also analyzed speeches for the intentions of the Jesuit priests in creating the landscape of power of the oldest part of the capital.
