Summary:
The book 'Photo Boom Photo Bust' by Vienna-based artist Mladen Bizumic explores the legendary photographic company Kodak's transition from film-based to digital imaging a point of departure for Bizumic's work from 2013 until 2017.0Through essays by Adam Carr and Stephen Zepke, 'Photo Boom Photo Bust' goes into depth of Bizumic's exhibitions at MOSTYN, Wales and Georg Kargl BOX, Vienna. Becky Allen investigates a timeline of Kodak's development from its founding in 1880 to its subsequent demise in 2012 when the company filed for bankruptcy. The book also offers a salutary tale of corporate hubris with the interview with Steven Sasson, the engineer who invented the world's first digital camera but his bosses at Kodak never fully supported him. The conversation between the book's editor Fiona Liewehr and Mladen Bizumic summarises the project and focuses on changing context of the current photographic image production, presentation and reception.
