- Summary:
- Bertolt Brecht was probably the most influential playwright-director of the twentieth century. For Brecht, this was the 'scientific age', which required thinking theatregoers, not people who were swept away by an overwhelming tide of experienced feeling. Brecht's aim therefore was to devise a theatrical practice that would not merely interpret the world, but would help to change it.
