Summary:
Cities of the Amazon are reference points in their cartography, marked by the presence of rivers and forest. They are trademarks of history of the region, their economic and social formation, and have played a key role in the settlement of this immense territory in the heart of South America. Although different cities, they are, at the same time, a synthesis of cultural identities of men and women who built their ways of life there. The documentary Belém cidade das águas shows the state capital and its relationship to the rivers that surround it. It describes the occupation of the edge of town, the public and private ports, sawmills, companies, fairs and various other activities. Cidades Amazônicas is an overview of the typology of the region's cities. These two works offer an interesting approach to understanding the relationship between the cities, the waters and the Amazon forest.
