Summary:
This title accompanied the exhibition, 'Selected works from the Murderme collection'. It includes illustrations of thirty-one works selected by Damien Hirst by just twenty-eight artists from his collection. A number of Hirst's contemporaries are represented, including Angus Fairhurst and Michael Landy, both of whom exhibited in the seminal student exhibition "Freeze", which was organised by Hirst in 1988. Also featured are emerging artists, including Sadie Laska and John Copeland, as well as giants of twentieth-century art, such as Richard Hamilton. The work was selected for the first mixed show from Hirst's collection to have taken place at Newport Street Gallery, which has been focusing on solo shows. Artists included are Johannes Albers, Frank Auerbach, Helen Beard, Don Brown, Gillian Carnegie, Patrick Caulfield, John Copeland, Michael Craig-Martin, Tracey Emin, Angus Fairhurst, Fabian Fobbe, Richard Hamilton, Marcus Harvey, Roger Hiorns, Damien Hirst, Rachel Howard, Jeff Koons, Michael Landy, Sadie Laska, Tanya Ling, Nicholas Lumb, Alessandro Magnasco (called Il Lissandrino), Rodrigo Moynihan, Julian Opie, Elizabeth Peyton, Boo Saville, Thomas Scheibitz and Rachel Whiteread.
