Summary:

The Japanese General Social Surveys (JGSS) Project is a Japanese version of the General Social Survey (GSS) project closely replicating the original GSS of the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago. It provides data for analyses of Japanese society, attitudes, and behaviors, which make possible international comparisons. Respondents were asked about employment, family and household composition, education, entertainment, technology and Internet usage, status and opinions on mental and physical health, alcohol and tobacco use, life satisfaction, voting behavior, opinions on political and social issues, taxes and government expenditure, family beliefs and issues, impact of the Great East Japan Earthquake, trust in people and institutions, membership in organizations, and their neighborhood environment.
