- "The story opens with a young couple in a small village whom tragedy befalls, one after another and threatens their marriage. The beginning also describes a microcosm society in the country. Eventually a fourth child Greg is born to this newly married couple, and subsequently love is reborn in their relationship and home. Greg grows into a fine young man but he also has to encounter his own challenges. In the end Greg would appear to be the one who triumphs over loads of trials, but to varied levels everyone in the book comes through and they are suvivors with hope.
