A small bifolium fashioned as a handwritten newspaper entitled Streatley hearald, dated August 23, 1841, and written by John Clark Strange. Below the masthead is written vol. I no. 8, Monday morning. The paper concerns the village of Streatley located on the Thames River in Berkshire, England. Divided into three columns Strange wrote news under the following headings, foreign & domestic, including China and France; advertisements, reporting on Swindon Market; markets; births, deaths and marriages; House of Commons; and miscellaneous, comprising poems, essays, and tales. Attribution appears at the bottom of the last column: written & published by the editor John Clark Strange, Streatley, Berks. Torn at folds.
