- Summary:
- "The career of José María Merino is one of the most interesting in the Spanish literary scene. Has cultivated virtually all genres - with a particular inclination for the story and the novel - anticipating procedures and trends, and opening paths with each of their proposals. In 2008 he was elected a member of the Royal Spanish Academy, corroborating, as shown by the numerous awards received, his valuable contribution to our letters. His work has been the subject of study inside and outside of Spain, which is why the academy considers it a classic of literature. This volume is dedicated to the study of novels, short stories and mini-fiction by José María Merino. The first part focuses on his micro-stories, a storytelling modality for which this writer has done so much. A pioneer in its dissemination in Spain, Merino is not only a teacher, but also a theoretician, since he has often reflected on the characteristics inherent to the hyperbreve story. The second section of the book brings together articles on motives, themes and procedures highlighted in the Merino narrative. The search for identity, double, metaliterature and the relationships between reality and fiction are, among others, recurrent issues in his work." --Translated from inside front cover.
