- Summary:
- This film provides a fond glimpse of the borough in the early thirties. Although signs in storefront windows attest to hard times, Leyda concentrates on the rhythms of daily life. Views of elevated trains, tenements, shops and street life are linked by visual and kinetic motifs that bridge documentary and avant-garde styles. The film served as a portfolio for Leyda when he won a scholarship to study with Eisenstein.
