Biography/History:
Lyon Sharman, née Abbie Mary Lyon, was born in Hangzhou, China, in 1872, to a Presbyterian missionary family. She graduated from the University of Wooster in 1894 and married the Canadian theologian Henry Burton Sharman in 1896. She earned a doctorate in literature from the University of Chicago in 1906. Under the name Lyon Sharman she wrote both fiction and non-fiction, including a biography of Sun Yat-sen. She died in Los Angeles, California, in 1957.
