Summary:
Small oblong commonplace book of epigrams, poems, and quotations in German and French, not all with attributions. Some of the selections are translated from other languages, such as passages from Tasso (f. 16r-16v), Alexander Pope (f. 56r-56v), and Horace (f. 75v). The compiler's initials, M. J. F. W. von M., are on the title page (f. 1r).

Script: Written in cursive script (French selections) and German cursive script (German selections), by one hand.
Binding: Contemporary (18th-century) colored paper over cardboard, with a paper-covered slipcase; gilt edges.
Origin: Probably written in Germany, in 1770 (title page, f. 1r).
