Summary:
The current research analyses the work of the sanitary services in Manaus, Brazil, concentrating on the struggle against yellow fever, malaria and tuberculosis, between the years of 1891 and 1920. This institution worked as a regulating and civilizing element in the social space of the city. The book proposes to understand the theme of public health conveyed by the administrative and functional organizations of the various regulators that ruled the public health in the city of Manaus during that period.
