In Müller's work the pianist performs Dohnanyi's Essential finger exercises for obtaining a sure piano technique, incorporating the mistakes made by a complete beginner, interpolating a prescribed series of animal names in the sign language of the country of performance.

In Petrovic-Vrachanska's work the piano is prepared with coins and plastic balls placed on specified strings; a Chinese temple ball is hung by a ribbon from the piano lid; the pianist is prepared with a half thimble on the fourth finger of the right hand.

In Ruckebier's work the piano is prepared with a piece of rubber between the strings of d'.

Schumacher's work is played partially inside the piano.
