Summary:
Franz Radziwill is regarded as one of the most distinguished painters of the 20th century. The second volume of the five-part book series dedicated to Radziwill?s formal pictorial strategies focuses on consideration of his color palette. The passion for color can be perceived throughout his oeuvre. After Radziwill?s expressive early work, muted colors dominate, but then undergo a heightening of color in the late work. The painter moves visibly again and again between avant-garde and tradition, while plumbing various concepts of color in a unique way. 00With some thirty works, the publication presents examples from all phases of Radziwill?s work, with a focus on illustrating his handling of color?which gives his paintings their distinctive character. As a particular highlight, the catalogue presents seldom exhibited and rarely shown early works by the artist. 00Exhibition: Franz Radziwill Haus, Varel, Germany (19.03.2017-07.01.2018).
