Summary:
This is the story of a farmer and pilot raised in colonial Kenya who went on to play an active role in Mozambican politics whilst leading Lonrho's foreign investment in that country. John Hewlett moved to Mozambique in 1985 from Zambia. Mozambique was a Marxist-Leninist poverty stricken lost paradise. This was a life during a vicious civil war which led to democracy and peace. After a Lonrho boardroom coup he left the company. Hewlett went back to basks to invest in small scale farmers and develop a luxury private island. This is a true African tale of persistence and tenacity. Book jacket.
