Biography/History:
Princeton University graduate, 1766; lawyer; officer of the Philadelphia Military Associators, 5th Rifle Battalion, 1776, a deputy commissary general of prisoners in the Continental Army, 1777-1781; after 1781 a lawyer in Reading, Berks County.
Summary:
Compilation of legal forms, writs, and decisions, most frequently originating in Philadelphia, but with other counties in Pennsylvania (Bucks, Chester, Lancaster), New Jersey (Hunterdon), and Maryland (Talbot) represented, collected by Philadelphia lawyer Daniel Cunyngham Clymer (signature, p. i). Areas of law involved include admiralty, property, and criminal law. A subject index, with the subjects in alphabetical order and entries related to those subjects listed under them in page order, is at the end of the volume (p. 359-369).

Layout: Headings for each entry in left margin.
Script: Written in cursive script, probably in the hand of Daniel Cunyngham Clymers.
Decoration: A small number of manicules (p. 164, 166).
Binding: Contemporary (18th-century) calf; boards detached and some leaves loose and detached; remnants of bands at head and tail of spine dangling; title in ink on upper cover, Book of entries, August 30th 1767.
Origin: Probably written in Philadelphia, from 1767 August 30 (date on upper cover) to 1770 (p. 272), with a later additions in 1772 (inside front cover), 1786 (p. 273), and 1791 (p. 357).
