- 조선 선조(宣祖) 때 영의정을 지낸 서애(西厓) 유성룡(柳成龍:1542∼1607)이 쓴 임진왜란 야사(野史)를 새롭게 디지털화했습니다. 저본은 16권 7책. 목판본. 국보 제132호로, 1592(선조 25)~98년까지 7년에 걸쳤던 임진왜란의 원인·전황 등을 기록한 책입니다. '징비'란 《시경(詩經)》의 소비편(小毖篇)의 "미리 징계하여 후환을 경계한다(予其懲而毖後患)"는 구절에서 딴 것입니다. 저자 자신은 이 책자를 가리켜 '비록 볼만한 것은 없으나 역시 모두 당시의 사적(事蹟)이라 버릴 수가 없었다.'고 겸양해하고 있으나 임진왜란 때 저자의 위치나 책의 내용으로 보아 임진 전란사를 연구하는 데 귀중한 사료로 평가되고 있습니다.
