- 오늘날 우리말에는 '한국어'와 '조선말' 그리고 700만 동포들이 간직해 온 모국의 언어가 있습니다. 남북한말비교사전은 남북한 및 중국, 옛 소련 지역 동포들의 우리말 어휘 3만 여개를 모아 이를 비교 분석한 사전입니다. 또한 분단으로 말미암아 지난 60년 동안 서로 다른 환경에서 자라 온 남과 북 두 지역의 언어적 차이를 인식하고, 이를 하나의 언어 체계로 정리하였습니다. 지난 60년간 서로 다른 환경에서 자라 온 언어이기 때문에 적지않은 차이가 났는데, 그 중 가장 두드러진 부분이 어휘 면이다. 따라서 남과 북의 두 지역 언어를 살피어 한 언어 체계로 정리하고자 한 것이다.
