현재 42동의 건물이 남아 있는 선암사는 전형적인 산지 사찰로서 가람 배치 방법이 우수하다. 선암사에 남아 있는 유물 가운데 가장 대표적인 것은 철불과 보탑, 부도 등이다. 이 책에는 선암사의 건축과 유물에 대한 상세한 설명 외에 주변의 사계절 풍광을 담은 사진이 함께 실려 있어 보는 즐거움을 더한다. 천년 고찰 선암사는 조계산에서 발원하여 동쪽으로 흐르는 선암사천이 시작되는 곳에 자리잡고 있다. 창건주에 대해서는 신라 말의 도선국사와 삼국시대 아도화상으로 의견이 분분하지만 문헌이나 유물로 볼 때 도선국사가 창건한 것으로 보는 것이 설득력이 있다. 고려 중기에 대각국사 의천이 선암사를 중창하였으며, 정유재란 때 철불 1기, 보탑 2기, 부도 3기를 제외하고 모두 불타 버려 6차에 걸친 중창 끝에 옛 모습을 되찾게 되었다. -- 현재 42동의 건물이 남아 있는 선암사는 전형적인 산지 사찰로서 가람 배치 방법이 우수하다. 진입 부분은 다소 완만하지만 첫 건물인 강선루부터는 가파른 지형을 이루므로, 급한 경사지를 여러 단으로 깎고 각 단에 축대를 쌓아 평평한 대지를 조성하였다. 그래서 선암사의 건물들은 좌우 방향으로는 다소 넓으나 전후 방향으로는 조밀한 배치를 보인다. 사찰 내에서 가장 아름다운 경관을 이루는 승선교를 옆으로 하고 강선루, 일주문, 범종루를 지나면, 여러 개의 건물군을 만나게 된다. 주축에 위치한 대웅전 영역 외에 원통전 영역, 응진당 영역, 각황전 영역은 각기 배치나 시작 면에서 독특한 방법으로 강조되고 있다. -- 이 책에는 선암사의 건축과 유물에 대한 상세한 설명 외에 주변의 사계절 풍광을 담은 사진이 함께 실려 있어 보는 즐거움을 더한다.

Seonamsa Temple, which currently has 42 buildings remaining, is a typical mountain temple and has an excellent garam arrangement method. Among the relics remaining at Seonamsa Temple, the most representative ones are the iron Buddha, treasure pagoda, and stupa. In addition to detailed descriptions of Seonamsa Temple's architecture and relics, this book also includes photos of the surrounding scenery in all four seasons, adding to the enjoyment of reading. Seonamsa Temple, a thousand-year-old temple, is located at the beginning of the Seonam Sacheon Stream, which originates from Jogyesan Mountain and flows east. There are differing opinions about the founder: State Preceptor Doseon of the late Silla Dynasty and Adohwasang of the Three Kingdoms Period. However, looking at documents and relics, it is persuasive to believe that it was founded by State Preceptor Doseon. In the mid-Goryeo Dynasty, State Preceptor Daegak Uicheon rebuilt Seonamsa Temple. During the Jeongyujaeran, all of the temples were burned down except for the 1st iron Buddha, 2nd treasure pagoda, and 3rd stupa, and was restored to its original appearance after six rounds of reconstruction. -- Seonamsa Temple, which currently has 42 buildings remaining, is a typical mountain temple and has an excellent garam arrangement method. The entrance is somewhat gentle, but the topography is steep from the first building, Gangseonru, so the steep slope was cut into several stages and an embankment was built at each stage to create a flat site. Therefore, the buildings of Seonamsa Temple are somewhat wide in the left and right directions, but are densely arranged in the front and rear directions. If you pass by Gangseonru, Iljumun, and Beomjongru, next to Seungseongyo Bridge, which forms the most beautiful scenery in the temple, you will come across several groups of buildings. In addition to the Daeungjeon area located on the main axis, the Wontongjeon area, Eungjindang area, and Gakhwangjeon area are each emphasized in unique ways in terms of arrangement and beginning. -- In addition to detailed descriptions of Seonamsa Temple's architecture and relics, this book also includes photos of the surrounding scenery in all four seasons, adding to the enjoyment of reading.
