청동기시대에 나타난 엄청난 기술의 진보가 어떻게 이루어진 것인가를 살펴보고 그 문화의 양상을 남겨진 유물과 유적을 중심으로 비교하여 설명하였다. 이해하기 어려운 고고학 용어를 풀어서 설명하여 우리 역사를 처음 공부하는 학생들도 쉽게 볼 수 있도록 꾸몄다. 신석기시대가 끝나갈 무렵, 한반도에는 새로운 지식과 기술을 수반하는 청동기 문화가 북방에서 유입된다. 청동은 구리와 주석을 합금하는 야금술로 인해 만들어지는데, 이러한 기술적 진보는 선사인들의 생활과 사회에 큰 영향을 미치게 된다. 우리나라 청동기 문화는 크게 전기의 요령식동검문화와 후기의 한국식동검문화로 나누어 볼 수 있는데 각각의 문화는 지역별로 조금씩 내용을 달리한다. 요령식동검문화는 요동 반도를 통해 한반도 서해안과 중서부 지역으로 들어오거나 육로를 통해 함경도 지역으로 들어온 것으로 추측되며 요령식동검이 공통적으로 나타난다. 반면 한국식동검문화는 중국 요령성 지역을 중심으로 한 요령식동검문화를 바탕으로 하되, 북방의 청동기 문화와 중국의 청동기 문화 요소를 받아들여 새로운 청동기 문화로 정착한 것이다. 요령식동검문화보다 훨씬 다양하여 새롭게 의기류가 등장하고 무기류·공구류도 다양하게 나타난다. 대표적인 유물로는 한국식동검, 투겁창, 꺽창, 거울, 의기 등이 있다. 이 책에서는 지금까지 발굴된 유물과 유적을 중심으로 하여 청동기 문화를 상세히 소개하고 청동기 주거문화를 비롯하여 청동기의 성분과 제작 기술, 보수 기법에 대해서도 간략하게 살펴보았다.

We looked at how the tremendous technological progress that appeared during the Bronze Age was achieved and explained the cultural aspects by comparing them with a focus on the relics and relics left behind. Archaeological terms that are difficult to understand are explained in a way that makes them easy to understand even for students who are studying our history for the first time. Toward the end of the Neolithic Age, the Bronze Age culture, bringing with it new knowledge and technology, was introduced to the Korean Peninsula from the north. Bronze is made through metallurgy, alloying copper and tin, and these technological advances have a great impact on the lives and society of prehistoric people. Korea's bronze culture can be broadly divided into the early Korean-style bronze sword culture and the late Korean-style bronze sword culture, with each culture having slightly different contents depending on the region. It is presumed that the low-point type copper sword culture came into the west coast and midwestern region of the Korean peninsula through the Liaodong Peninsula or into the Hamgyeong-do region via the land route, and the low-point type copper sword is commonly found. On the other hand, the Korean-style bronze sword culture is based on the Liaoning-style bronze sword culture centered on the Liaoning Province region of China, but it adopted elements of the northern bronze culture and Chinese bronze culture and established itself as a new bronze culture. It is much more diverse than the point-and-shoot sword culture, with new clothing appearing and a variety of weapons and tools appearing. Representative relics include Korean-style bronze swords, fighting spears, kkeokchang, mirrors, and military equipment. In this book, we introduce the Bronze Age culture in detail, focusing on the relics and relics that have been excavated so far, and briefly look at the Bronze Age residential culture as well as the ingredients, production technology, and repair techniques of the Bronze Age.
