Summary:
"Each year since 1947 the University of Pittsburgh has sponsored a conference dealing with current advances and probable future developments in an active area of psychology. This year the departmental committee was interested in the general problem of measurement since there is the continuous need for the development of methods to quantify the stubborn and elusive phenomena of behavior. The title selected was "The Description and Analysis of Behavior." Most of the papers in the present volume deal with this topic although the invited speakers were free to suggest their individual titles. A few of the topics touched on include: task-oriented groups, psychopathology, psychophysiology, human behavior, social psychology, psycholinguistics, and psychotherapy"--Preface.
