- Annotation The Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source (CHESS) hosted the June 1997 conference. Topics of the 62 papers and abstracts include history, status, and upgrades of facilities; insertion devices, laser excited and other sources; beam stabilization, beamline hardware and control; novel optics design, fabrication, testing and use; making and imaging microstructures; "in-situ" measurements and materials characterization; and large, small, fast, and energy-resolving detectors.
