- Ernie O'Malley (1897-1957) was one of the most talented and colourful of modern Irish republicans. A leader in the 1916-1923 Revolution, and a contemporary of Michael Collins and Eamon de Valera, he subsequently penned two classic autobiographical accounts of the struggle in later years: On Another Man's Wound and The Singing Flame.
