Summary:

Studie shrnuje výsledky velkého mezinárodního výzkumu domácího násilí IVAWS, který se v ČR uskutečnil v roce 2003. Kromě obšírného popisu prevalence zkušeností českých žen přináší také výsledky sondy realizované později mezi muži. Ukazuje širší sociální souvislosti tohoto fenoménu (význam zkušeností v rodině, abúzus alkoholu, drog, agresivita partnera, vliv vzdělání a sociálního statusu). Zabývá se také ekonomickým a psychologickým násilím a celkovými důsledky pro oběti. Zkoumá též možnosti intervence státních orgánů i neziskových organizací. Připomíná provedenou komparaci několika zemí zapojených do projektu IVAWS a nabízí interpretaci výsledků z pohledu české strany. Teoretické a poznatkové zázemí studie představuje důležité východisko k dalšímu zkoumání tohoto závažného sociálního problému pro řadu zájemců o téma, tvoří také základnu právě probíhajícího replikačního výzkumu.
