- Summary:
- The book presents the paths taken towards professionalization and specialization in public health in Brazil, reflecting national and international influences and initiatives.in the creation of the National School of Public Health (Ensp), in 1954. In this laboratory of ideas in which the School was created, proposals were formulated that contributed to the great achievements of Brazilian public health and that subsidized the Health Reform process, the results of which are expressed in the constitution and strengthening of SUS. Organized in two parts, the first presents a succinct narrative text about Ensp, from its creation to recent years. The second contains articles on topics relevant to the understanding of Ensp's history and its role in contemporary public health.
