This book is the work of Jan van der Woord, who had a special interest in casting and kneading during the years that he was an associate professor in the Product Development chair at the Faculty of Architecture, TU Delft. He has written this book as a legacy for students who want to design more or less complex building structures and main supporting structures, generally building technology students. The book also offers architecture students insight into the possibilities from production. When designing new architectural structures and main supporting structures in high-tech materials, the knowledge of production techniques that are available for this purpose and that have proven use is of great importance. Jan van der Woord has made a collection of production techniques that can be used for construction technology. The casting of metals, as has been done for thousands of years, has now also acquired a nice industrial form for construction.
