Summary:
With the participation of more than 100 specialists in coastal marine benthic research, the book presents methodological proposals for continuous and long-term monitoring of existing benthic ecosystems on the Brazilian coast. Given that the Coastal Benthic Habitats Monitoring Network (ReBentos) proposes to monitor this environment continuously and by the largest number of research groups, covering as completely as possible the entire latitudinal variation of the coast, the methods presented were defined looking for promptness, simplicity of procedures and low cost, favouring its wide application. From this product, all researchers, whether or not linked to ReBentos, will be able to develop, in a standardized and comparative way, research with different benthic habitats in the different regions of the Brazilian coast.
