Summary:
This book brings together the proceedings of the study days organized to mark the twentieth anniversary of the Florence University PhD course in Mediaeval History. It offers, first and foremost to the broad public of young scholars of Italian mediaeval history, an overview of conceptual approaches to the major issues characterizing the various ambits of mediaeval research over the last twenty years. The volume collects the texts of some reports presented during the study days organized on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the PhD in Medieval History of the University of Florence. A series of reflection paths on the main issues that have characterized the various fields of medieval research of the last twenty years, and which cover historiographical, thematic and chronological fields, are offered here, first of all to the wide audience of young history scholars. from the high to the late Middle Ages, from the history of power to that of the church, from the history of the territory to the economic one, from material to cultural history. The volume is enriched with precious biographical testimonies and copious bibliographic references.
