Summary:
Magician's handbook and guide on medicine, cures, and remedies, written within the Batak family of languages and in the ancient Poda. Related to Hindu traditions in Indonesia, especially the island of Sumatra. Includes a recipe for alleviating hunger using two spoons of pepper, one spoon of salt, and ginger. Text opens: Poda ni pamusatan ni taoar (Instructions in the subject of medicines). Decorative design at the opening of the text (f. 2r). Possibly made for European tourists in the 19th century.
