- Summary:
- At the beginning of 18st century several hundreds of followers of Caspar Schwenckfeld's teachings, left Silesia - after decades of persecutions by governmental and ecclesiastical authorities - for the sake of their spiritualistic faith. They emigrated first to the Electorate of Saxony and some years later (1731/1737) to Pennsylvania. In this multireligious English colony they became acquainted with other religious beliefs and cultural circumstances. The consequences were often alternations of their traditional faith. However, for most of them these encounters involved primarily not risks, but opportunities for their faith and life. Horst Weigelt is the first to explore the reasons and effects of this migration on the faith of these refugees. Book jacket.
