- The privateer Snow, under the command of John Cunnyngham (or Cunningham), arrived in Philadelphia from St. Kitts for refitting on 11 August 1745 (cf. Pennsylvania journal (15 August 1745), p. [3]) and began advertising for hands in the Pennsylvania gazette and Pennsylvania journal on 22 August. On 13-15 December 1745 Snow joined with three other vessels (the brig Castor and sloops Diana and Pollux) in an attack on five French merchantmen. According to Cunnyngham, however, the other ships refused to support him; Snow was severely damaged and forced to withdraw to Jamaica for repair. Cf. Pennsylvania gazette (25 February 1746), p. [3], and Pennsylvania journal (25 May 1746), p. [3].
