Summary:

Dialogue between a Catholic and a Protestant about a new miracle of the Cross on the hill of São Tomé in Mylapore, at the end of which the Catholic converts. The Protestant refers to an edition of Jacinto Freire de Andrade's Vida de D. Joaõ de Castro, IV. Viso-Rey da India published in 1722 (p. 6).

Pagination: Paper, 32 leaves; [i-vii, 1], 2-48, [i-ix]; contemporary pagination in ink, modern pagination in pencil, upper outer corners.

Layout: Written in 21-23 long lines; outer margin formed by folding; indication of speaker (Pro, Rom, or Conv) written outside the left margin; octavo format (except for first three leaves, which have horizontal chain lines).

Script: Written in secretary script.

Decoration: Manicules used by the scribe to flag missing text and indicate where it should be inserted (p. 2).

Watermarks: Similar to Churchill 214, Arms of England of Van der Ley and Honig, 1733, but with intials LVG below (p. i); similar to countermark of Churchil 214, crowned GR (p. v).

Binding: Contemporary (18th-century) quarter calf with marbled boards (Weinberger); upper cover and first three leaves detached; lower cover nearly detached.

Origin: Written in Chennai (called Madraspatam in the manuscript) in 1728 (title page, p. vii).
