Discusses legal issues surrounding same-sex marriages and P.L. 104-199, the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which prohibits Federal recognition of same-sex marriage. Reviews general constitutional principles of equal protection and substantive due process. Examines United States v. Windsor , in which Supreme Court held that DOMA violates due process and equal protection, and reviews post-Windsor litigation, covering implications of Supreme Court ruling and remaining unresolved issues.
