Summary:
Encounter with the French choreographer Claude Brumachon, through one of his works, Texane. Work for six dancers, Texane propelled the French choreographer Claude Brumachon to the international scene by winning the Bagnolet competition in the late 1980's. Far from an exclusively conceptual approach, Claude Brumachon's choreographies are figurative works, often tinged with a certain roughness, drawing their inspiration from the pictural works of great painters, from Michelangelo to Francis Bacon, a souvenir of Claude Brumachon's first training at the École des Beaux-arts de Rouen. Appointed director of the Centre Chorégraphique National de Nantes in 1992, Claude Brumachon and his artistic companion Benjamin Lamarche have ever since been keen to support a choreographic discipline open to the exploration of new artistic horizons, as this documentary focusing on the ballet Texane bears witness.
