Follow the French choreographer Karine Saporta, figurehead of La Nouvelle Danse Française, during the creation of a new ballet, Le Garage. Along with Carolyn Carlson, Dominique Bagouet, Daniel Larrieu, Maguy Marin and Jean-Claude Gallotta, Karine Saporta is one of the leading figures of the artistic movement called La Nouvelle Danse Française, a movement born in the 1970's growing apart from the american modern dance and the Opéra de Paris institution. Featuring a brand new choreographic language inspired by contemporary cultural expressions or extra-European traditions, such as the hip-hop or the Indian Bharata natyam, La Nouvelle Danse Française has given new impetus to an artistic discipline imbued with a strong respect of the classical tradition. The movie director Natacha Defontaine has met Karine Saporta who talks about the creation of Le Garage, a ballet inspired by the rock music of the 1960's and 1970's.
